Netball

Netball is a ball sports played by two teams of seven. Games are played on a rectangle court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through the goal ring. Players are assigned to specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas on the court.
In this blog I will be identifying the psychological, physiological, tactical and technical effects and abilities with two participants.

Millie

I used wagon wheeling to identify Millie’s physiological strengths and weaknesses.

From this I can now identify Millie’s strengths and weakness. I have found that Millie’s strengths are her flexibility and reaction time these two aspects are needed within netball as when reaching for the ball her flexibility will be needed and she may have an advantage with a good flexibility rate. Her second strength is her reaction time and this is one vital thing needed in netball for example when going in for a toss- up Millie’s reaction time will be an advantage has she has good quick reaction time.
The weaknesses I have form analyzing netball matches are her power to jump for the ball; she hasn't got much power which is needed in netball as when jumping to intercept the ball from the opponent. Finally her last weakness is her aerobic endurance Millie will need this in a netball match so she doesn't lack in the third and final quarter of the match she will need to maintain the same amount of energy and effort in every single quarter of the netball match.

Darby

I also used wagon wheeling to identify physiological strengths and weaknesses.

Overall Darby and Millie have the same results this could be because they attend the same netball practice sessions and play or the same netball team and have the same coach also this could be due to genetics as they are sisters.

Tactical

To find out the strengths and weaknesses for tactical components I asked Darby and Millie to identify player positioning.

Both Millie and Darby have a good knowledge of the player’s positions, and how each player has a different role because they play netball to a high standard they know all good tactics of the game as they will play different positions and will know how each position has a different range of tactics. For example a shooter and keeper will have different tactics to each other as a shooter would try to get closer to the net while the keeper will try to keep the shooter out of the area.

This is Darby in a match going to pass the ball, this image shows that Darby has good footwork.

This image shows Millie, lacking in confidence because her opponent is standing close to her and she has to make a decision fast.

This video show how Millie has good movement throughout the game. This is one of Millie's strengths.
